Summary
The Dashboard provides investors with a summary of key information and action items related to their fund and SPV investments on Flow.
It is comprised of three parts:
- Investment Totals: An aggregate of the financial highlights across all of your investments, as either the owner or a member, across Flow.
-
Tasks: All of the outstanding tasks which have been assigned to you. These tasks can either be sent to you by the fund managers (or their service providers) or can be assigned to you by someone on your team.
- Investments: Financial highlights for all of your fund and SPV investments, grouped by your investment profiles and the fund manager. From here, you can also navigate to the details of each of your investments by clicking on the fund name.
How figures on the Dashboard are calculated
The below provides definitions and background on each of the key financial highlight fields presented in the Dashboard.
Committed
Capital that you have committed or subscribed to the fund or SPV.
How are these figures calculated? -- This figure is based either on your stated capital commitment or the amount that is stated in your subscription document.
Who provides this figure? -- Depending on how the deal has been structured, this figure is provided by you, your fund manager, or your subscription document.
Contributed
Capital paid-into the fund or SPV to-date against your capital commitment.
How are these figures calculated? -- Depending on the terms of your subscription agreement, this amount is either equivalent to the amount you have paid-into the fund or SPV to date, or is the total you have paid-in less management fees. This is the equivalent to the amount of your capital commitment that you have paid-in.
Who provides this figure? -- This figure is generally provided by either the fund manager or the fund administrator.
Unfunded
Capital committed to the fund but not yet paid-in, either due to uncalled capital or open capital calls.
How are these figures calculated? -- This is calculated as the difference between your capital commitment to the fund or SPV less the capital you have paid-in against your commitment to date. (i.e. Committed minus Contributed).
Who provides this figure? -- This figure is calculated by Flow based on the Committed and Contributed figures.
NAV
The value of your fund or SPV investment. Also known as Net Asset Value or Capital Balance.
How are these figures calculated? -- Generally, the net asset value of your investment is calculated based on the valuation of the fund or SPV's portfolio investment(s), which is then proportionally allocated to you based on your ownership of fund or SPV. This value is then net of the GP's carry fees, management fees, and the fund expenses (as applicable to your investment).
Who provides this figure? -- NAV figures are generally calculated and loaded to Flow by the fund manager or the fund administrator. (Flow does not calculate these values where we are not the fund administrator).
Distributions
The inception to date distributions that you have received from your fund or SPV investment.
How are these figures calculated? -- This is the cash that has been paid out to you from your fund or SPV investment. This distribution may or may not have been reinvested back into the fund or SPV.
Who provides this figure? -- Distribution figures are generally calculated and loaded to Flow by the fund manager or the fund administrator. (Flow does not calculate these values where we are not the fund administrator).
FAQs
Q: As a fund manager or service provider, why don't I see any investment activity on my Dashboard?
A: The dashboard is focused on providing a view into your fund and SPV investments as an investor. As a fund manager or service provider, if you or your organization does not have any direct fund investments on Flow then you will not see any investment activity.
Q: Why are the NAV and Distribution figures for one or more of my fund or SPV investments listed as "$0"?
A: Flow will display "$0" where no figures have been added for your investment's net asset value or distribution. This will often apply for SPV vehicles, which do not frequently go through valuations during the first few years of their life. Once a valuation update has been provided, Flow will update to show the new figures.
Q: How are my investments grouped in the "Investments" section of my dashboard?
A: Investments are grouped by your investment profiles and the investments that you have with each fund manager.
Q: What are the "tasks" that are displayed in my dashboard?
A: The tasks displayed in your dashboard are your open action items across all of your fund and SPV investments on Flow. You can click on the "call to action" button on the right side of the screen to take you directly to your task. Tasks can range from those related to onboarding into a fund, (such as selecting how you will invest and signing the subscription documents), capital calls and wire instructions, and information requests from your existing investments.
